sports injury Plantar Fasciitis treatment using Radial Shock Wave Therapy by Swiss DolorClast technology

Originally developed for urology, pneumatically generated shock waves were successfully used on bone tissue as early as 1990. Invented by EMS Electro Medical Systems, the Radial Shock Wave therapy was introduced in 1999 under the name “Swiss DolorClast® Method” and became the new standard in extracorporeal shock wave therapy.

Radial shock wave treatment alone is less efficient than radial shock wave treatment combined with tissue-specific plantar fascia-stretching.

​Shockwave therapy for plantar fasciitis is a safe and effective form of treatment in the management of plantar fasciitis. The results of which are comparable to surgery but without the necessary recovery period, morbidity, and reduced participation in a sport that can often accompany surgery.

Few things to try at home:

• Rest - Raise your foot on a stool.
• Ice - Bag of peas for up to twenty minutes every two-three hours.
• Gentle stretching - After resting patients often report a stabbing sensation especially when they take their first steps in the morning stretch your foot before taking those first morning steps.
• Roll the foot over a roller or shaped item e.g. bottle to massage the arch.
